Who I am. I am currently a rising sophomore at Brown University, pursuing a Sc.B. in Computer Science. Before moving to lovely Rhode Island, I grew up in Seattle, Washington, learning to enjoy the outdoors and only occasionally use an umbrella. I have a passion for creating things and solving puzzles, and a natural disposition for using technology makes CS the best venue for doing both. I'd also like to make some sort of positive difference in the world, but whether by helping to mitigate world hunger, making communication even easier, or developing new forms of entertainment, time has yet to tell.

What I do. This summer I'm back in Seattle working part time at a computer repair store doing customer service, some data migration tasks, and a small amount of teching, while also pursuing some independent web development projects on the side (these will eventually surface on Continuum Six). During the spring, I play on Brownian Motion, the Brown ultimate frisbee team, and I get in some game whenever possible out of season. On occasion I also make music (as is evident on my Made page) using Ableton Live and FL Studio, with the aid of my Xiosynth keyboard. Other hobbies include reading (books and blogs), amateur photography and graphic design, volleyball, hackey-sacking, distance running, and eating. Hummus, chocolate, and chow mein are some personal favorites.

What I have done. I've held three positions of official employment thus far: a clerk at Ten Thousand Villages (an ethnic goods retailer), an intern in the University of Washington chemistry department, and customer service at A-1 Best Computer, a local computer repair company (both last summer and, as above, this summer). I've also made several websites, for my parents businesses and a national organization of psychologists headed by a family friend. This coming fall, I'll be working as a TA for CS 15, an intro CS class taught by Andy van Dam (so excited). If you're interested in a more detailed record of my employment, check out my LinkedIn, and if you like my web design work you can propose a project here.
